Saving potential calculator

Calculate savings potential for water and energy.

Complete the steam boiler or condenser data. The calculator will show the annual value of energy, water and sewage that is worth recovering in your plant.

Initial technical calculation

Annual savings potential for your installation

Select the type of installation and complete the basic parameters of its operation. The model will demonstrate the potential to reduce the costs of energy, water and sewage associated with sludge and excessive blowdown. The calculation helps to select areas worth joint technical verification.

Method of calculation

From input data to the result that can be verified.

The calculator does not replace measurements from the installation. However, it arranges the most important dependencies and shows where the costs associated with sediment, energy and water and sewage economy can arise.

  1. Installation dataYou choose a steam boiler or a condenser and enter power, operating time and sediment parameters.
  2. Two sources of lossThe model separately estimates the cost of worse heat exchange and the potential to reduce blowdown and water consumption.
  3. Audit resultYou receive annual financial and technical potential indicators that are worth confirming on the operational data.
Industrial evaporative condensers and the plant cooling system

Interpretation of the result

The result is the beginning of the decision. Not an offer.

High potential indicates an area that is worth checking first. Only measurements, media balance and installation state confirm a real range of improvements.

What the calculator shows

The potential to reduce energy, water and sewage costs per year.

What's not replaced

sludge measurement, water analysis, flow balance, automatic evaluation and actual load profile.

As confirmed by the audit

Base State, feasible actions, real economic effect, implementation and monitoring parameters.

Verification of result

What Decides about the reliability of the result?

Specific responses to data quality, model limitations and the moment when the calculation must be confirmed by measurement or audit.

What exactly is included in the annual-savings result?

The result adds up to two components: the cost of energy lost by scale or sediment and the potential resulting from the reduction of blowdown, i.e. water consumption, sewage, and boiler heat losses. It shows the value for specified working hours and media prices, not the guaranteed amount of savings.

Which data have the greatest impact on the steam-boiler result?

The energy part is most affected by the power of the boiler, working time, gas price and scale thickness. The potential to reduce blowdown depends primarily on steam production, working time and gas, water and sewage costs.

Which data have the greatest impact on the evaporative-condenser result?

Refrigeration power, annual working time, energy price and the difference between the diameter of the clean coil and the diameter of the sediment are key. Water and sewage costs determine the value of potential blowdown reduction.

How can scale or deposit thickness be determined reliably?

It is best to use the measurement made at the stop, the documentation from the last cleaning or the diameter difference of the coil. When there is no measurement, it is worth counting several thickness scenarios instead of treating one value as a certainty.

Does the calculator account for changes in system load over the year?

Not fully. The model uses one power value and a total number of hours of operation, so with major load changes a more detailed result requires monthly or hourly data from the monitoring system.

Why might the result differ from an audit?

The audit shall take into account the actual load, water quality, automation, heat exchange surface status and work history of installations whose calculator model does not fully describe.

When should a calculation be verified by measurement or an audit?

Always before approving the budget, changing the chemical program, cleaning the installation or adopting savings to the investment plan. Measurement confirms surface status, water parameters and actual work profile of the device.

What data should be prepared to review the result with an engineer?

The most useful data from the last 12 months are fuel or energy consumption, operating hours, steam production or cooling load, water consumption, sewage and water analysis results. It is also worth including cleaning history, automation settings and current rates for media.

Can the result be used when planning a white-certificate application?

Yes, as a preliminary signal that the project is worth analyzing. However, basic data, calculation methodology, measurement and energy efficiency audit are needed for formal evaluation.
